THE STORY OF THE FESTIVAL OF LOVE (Valentine’s Day)

The Festival of Love was one of the festivals of the pagan Romans, when paganism was the prevalent religion of the Romans more than seventeen centuries ago. In the pagan Roman concept, it was an expression of “spiritual love”. There were myths associated with this pagan festival of the Romans, which persisted with their Christian heirs. Among the most famous of these myths was the Roman belief that Romulus, the founder of Rome, was suckled one day by a she-wolf, which gave him strength and wisdom.

In a relationship, married or not… You should read this. Marriage.

“When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?

Linguists name 'occupy' as 2011's word of the year - CNN.com

Linguists name 'occupy' as 2011's word of the year - CNN.com:

Take Him With You

Proverbs 7:1 - 3: My son, keep my words, and store my commandments within you.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of your eye.
Bind them upon your fingers, write them upon the table of your heart.

When I was in my early teens my parents bought me a little budgerigar for my birthday. This little bird became my absolute pride and joy. I adored and idolized him. I fed him, taught him to talk and tamed him. Eventually it came to the place where he was so tame that I would put my finger in the cage and he would hop onto it, run up my arm and sit on my shoulder. I could then walk around the house and do whatever I needed to do and he didn't leave there. He stayed sitting on my shoulder. I was continually aware of him, even though I was concentrating sometimes on other things I was busy with, and whenever I needed to, I could just turn to talk to him and let him give me a little kiss with his beak.

What sort of New Year’s Resolution should a Christian make?

The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3,000 years to the ancient Babylonians. There is just something about the start of a new year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. In reality, there is no difference between December 31 and January 1. Nothing mystical occurs at midnight on December 31. The Bible does not speak for or against the concept of New Year’s resolutions. However, if a Christian determines to make a New Year’s resolution, what kind of resolution should he or she make?

Get ready for it!

I wanted to take a moment just to remind you how precious you are to the Lord. Not everyone in this world will agree with the way that you see or do things. For everything you do right, the chances are there are things that people disagree with. (If you are in ministry then you REALLY know what I am talking about :) )
